Marketing Made Easy for HR Consultants
The Hard Truth You Don’t Want to Hear
Most people secretly hope someone will come along and fix things for them.
But the truth is, no-one is coming. Not to build your business, not to change your habits, not to save you from the things you’ve been putting off.
In this Sunday Session, I’m sharing why taking full responsibility is the real turning point — with insights from Mel Robbins and Dr Julie’s journey to becoming the UK’s most-followed psychologist.
So tune in, reflect, and ask yourself the question: what’s stopping you?
Want My Help to Build Your £70K+ HR Consultancy?
0:00 Hello there, and welcome back to another episode of Sunday Sessions with me, Nick Paninski.
0:06 Today, I want to talk about something that might sting a little bit at first. But I promise you, if you let it sink in, it could change the way you approach your business and your life, and the theme is simple.
0:17 The message is simple. No one is coming to save you. Now, I'm going to share what that means, why it matters, the difference it makes when you embrace it.
0:26 And I'll give you two examples, one from Mel Robbins and another from someone I've recently had the chance to meet, Dr.
0:32 Jula. So let's get into it. Now, when you hear that phrase, no one is coming to save you. It can feel a bit harsh, right?
0:41 Almost unfair. But it's the truth, right? And the truth shall set you free. Mel Robbins talks about this a lot.
0:49 One of her famous quotes, I think it went viral on social media. She says, no one is coming. No one is coming to push you.
0:57 No one is coming to- I tell you to turn off Netflix, to go for that run, to make that call, to write that post, or to build that business.
1:04 No one is coming. No one is coming to do it for you. You have to save you. And that's the reality.
1:12 So many people, it's me. I've included spend their lives waiting, waiting for the right timing, waiting for someone to give them permission, waiting for m- motivation to just magically appear.
1:24 But it never does. Motivation isn't a bus that pulls up outside your house. Equally, as we've spoken about before, motivation isn't something that you can rely on.
1:35 But responsibility, discipline, responsibility is yours, discipline is yours. And the moment you accept that, that no one is coming to save you, you stop waiting and you s- start moving.
1:48 Now, why does this matter so much? Well, the alternative is devastating. If you don't take responsibility, you are handing over your future to chance.
2:00 You can stay stuck, you can end up- presenting other people, you can end up resenting the system, bad luck, all that, all that stuff, right?
2:09 And years go by with nothing really changing. But when you do take responsibility, when you say, this is my life, this is my business.
2:18 My health, my relationships, and I'm responsible for them. Well, suddenly, you, you've gained control, you've taken control, you've stopped looking outward for rescue and started looking inward for action.
2:32 Now, this doesn't mean you have to do it all a little- you can absolutely get help, support, coaching, guidance, whatever it is that you need to move forward.
2:42 But the key difference is this, you were the one who chooses, you were the one who moves, you are the one who makes it happen.
2:50 Now, let me share the story of someone who embodies this perfectly. I recently met Dr. Julie. Some of you will know her already.
2:58 She's a clinical psychologist who made a decision. Not a wish, not a vague hub, but a decision that she was going to become number one.
3:06 A psychologist. And then she acted on it. She created content in a compelling way over and over and over again.
3:14 Until people paid attention. The result? She now has over 10 million followers across social media. It wasn't just successful. It was the best selling nonfiction book of 2022.
3:32 And it stayed in the Sunday Times Top 10 for over a hundred weeks. That's almost two years. And that place is it, the number of copies sold.
3:43 It's in the top 50 best selling books of the last 50 years. Now along the way, she hasn't just grown her a career.
3:51 She's helped millions of people improve their lives and their- . . mental health. All because she didn't wait for an opportunity to write.
3:59 She created it. So here's my question to you. What's stopping you? Because if Dr. Julie can mail that decision. If Mel Robbins can make that decision.
4:11 Then so can you. And the difference isn't talent, or luck, or timing, it's responsibility. It's choosing to stop waiting and start acting.
4:22 So let's bring this back to you. Where in your life are you waiting for someone- where are you hoping for a rescue that isn't coming?
4:32 And what would change if you simply said, this is on me. I'm going to take the next step. Not tomorrow, not when the star is aligned, but today.
4:41 No one is coming to say. But that's not the bad news. That's the best news you could hear, because it means the power is in your hands.
4:49 So go and grab your pen and paper and write down, where am I waiting? Where am I waiting for someone else?
4:57 Where am I waiting for the best time? And then write about it for ten minutes. If you want, just put bullet points, whatever it is.
5:06 Get that list of actions right in front of you. It's hard to ignore. And then, take action. So hopefully today's show was interesting.
5:15 And for you, thank you for listening along. And as ever, because it's Sunday, embrace the change. Because
